Electronic Poker is a popular game that is able to be enjoyed in casinos around the globe, or alternatively at home on your personal computer, through a net connection. The rules are very simple and involve the player attempting to get the best assemblage of cards possible in order to win money. On this account it’s very similar as a normal game of poker, without the involvement with any other players. Of course, tactics used in a physical game of poker, like tricking, will be useless here.
The game of Electronic Poker begins when the player puts credits (whether it’s tokens, tickets or money) into the machine and pushes the draw button. A five card hand will then be electronically ‘distributed’ on the video screen.
The Video Poker game also has hold buttons, and bettors will need to now choose which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the bettor wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they want, from all to none.
After the bettor has chosen which cards he wishes to retain, the player will then press ‘deal’, at which point any new cards are dealt if desired. The round is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands listed in the payment schedule.
Typically, the lowest winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It goes without saying that the payout schedule can vary from machine to machine, so that experienced enthusiasts are agile enough to select the most beneficial game every instance.
Once the first round has finished, the player can either decide to remain on and try to to maximize their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any cash that they may have won. Additionally, some versions of the game allow the player an opportunity to double their wins, in which case a further hand is played. There are also variations between specific games, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other differing aspects to increase playability.
