Video Poker is a favored game that can be played in casinos around the world, or in your house on your PC, through a net account. The rules are very straightforward and consist of the player trying to get the highest mixture of cards possible in order to win cash. In this respect it’s very similar as a regular game of poker, apart from the line of contact with any other players. Of course, tactics used in a physical game of poker, such as tricking, will be useless in Video Poker.
The game of Video Poker begins when the bettor inserts credits (whether it’s tokens, credit slips or money) into the video poker machine and pushes the deal button. A hand of five cards will then be electronically ‘handed out’ on the screen.
The Video Poker machine also has hold buttons, and gamblers should now pick which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the player would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they want, whether it is all or none.
After the bettor has decided on which cards he would like to retain, they should press ‘draw’, at which point any fresh cards will be needed they will be handed out. The hand is now completed, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands listed in the payment schedule.
Typically, the lowest succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money growing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It goes without saying that the pay out schedule can vary from machine to machine, so that knowledgeable players are able to choose the most profitable machine every time.
After the initial round has played out, the player can either decide to remain on in an attempt to maximize their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any credits that have been won. Further, several versions of the game give the enthusiast a chance to increase their winnings, in which situation a further hand is played. There are also differences among specific machines, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other differing characteristics to increase playability.
